[ZendTo] UPDATE - "Request a DropOff" email isn't sending

Not sure if this still applies or not.  At one point I had an issue with things not looking right and Jules recommended I delete all the php files in the Smarty cache as those files would all be regenerated automatically as needed.  It did fix my problem.  The Smarty cache is located at /var/zendto/templates_c/ on my SLES setup.  I assume it is the same or similar on other distros.  If your ZendTo is a VM, you could snapshot and delete the php files in that folder and see what happens.

I’m running version 6.13-3 and I also see that same screen.  The info link to the right of “Send email” states that this is on by default, but if turned off will just show you a link that you will have to send yourself.  If that is the only time emails are not sent, I would think it has to be tied into that option somehow.

Did you select the 'send email' option in the request a dropoff page?

I’ve never had to dink around with an install before of zendto, it just works.  I do usually use CentOS but with it being semi-retired, I went with Ubuntu (which I already hated).

All I can say is look at the receive connector that it connects to and see if it has proper permissions.
I had to create one with “externally secured”

If I replace the req.php file with the req.php from 5.13, the request sends.

However, when the recipient clicks on the link the page fails (as there is a lot more going on in the 6.13.3 version).

Something must somehow be broken in the req.php but it hasn’t been modified at all.  Maybe something in the email template but I’m pretty sure that is stock as well.  I’ll start digging into that.

Can't really add anything to this except I built a new box about 3wks ago, and the request dropoff feature seems to work for me.

I logged in as my local user, requested a dropoff to my gmail account, the zendto log logs correctly and my gmail received the email.

Even more weirdness.

If I “Resend Request” from within the request, the email goes out just fine and it shows up in the system log.

I tried testing with SMTPDebug in preferences.php, but that ONLY works with the “Resend Request” button when you are looking at the details of the request (per the comments in preferences.php you can only test with the “Resend Request” button).  However, when I do this test it shows the complete conversation with the mailserver, as it should.

Just thought I’d add this extra info.

Are you using an internal smart host or other mail system?

It might be seeing the external addresses and refusing to “relay” them…

See if there are any logs on the mail system they are being forwarded to…

Yep.  Just not for a “Request a Drop-off”.

Strange, right?  They never hit my mail server and as I said, they don’t show in the system log.  You get the resulting page with the drop off codes so it looks like it sends and the request shows in All Drop-offs but no email ever goes out.

        Howdy, all!

        We can drop off files just fine but if we send a request for a drop off the email never gets sent and nothing other than the user authentication (of the person logging in to send the request) shows up in the system log.

        This is a new server that I built on Ubuntu a month or so ago.

        Any thoughts?
